Lone Orca

British Columbia in Canada holds a special place in my heart for a number of reasons, one of those reasons are that it’s a popular location to see Killer Whales.
I’ve been very lucky in my life to be able to see these magnificent animals in the wild, it’s very humbling to be alongside these whales as they travel through the ocean as a family.
This print was inspired by a photograph by Koen Hoekemeijer, of an orca he had seen whilst whale watching in Norway, it’s vibrant colours with the stand alone subject caught my eye and created an idea in my head that I just had to express.
Koen very kindly allowed me use his photograph for the inspiration of Lone Orca, and although the original photograph was taken in Norway, I wanted to create a piece of art that would throw me back to a place that holds my heart.
